Masters degree in Education, highschoolteacher,lecturer,traveller nature photographer, noted author of several teaching books... she passed away.

She came to Canada in the early fifties with nothing but a degree in teaching...and never looked back.

Ich mache die Tuere auf mit einem Spaten in der Hand...Diana schreit ich habe eine Pistole / Gewehr ( gun).

Der Kerl geht in die Knie, sie ruft die Polizei an, er wird verhafted.

Ich heatte mich gefreut mal etwas von alten Klasssenkameraden (Klasse Klein und Berufschule Klasse Walter Leis ; Metall) doch leider nichts.
Habe da wohl noch ein paar Verwandte herumhocken die scheinen aber nicht sehr Internetbegabt zu sein.

Kleiner Bruder hat mich aufgehetzt diesen ganzen Schwindel (blog) mal anzufangen...aber der hat mittlerweile den Verstand verloren, poebelt mich an und das hat natuerlich auch wenig Sinn.

Ich werde hiermit weiter machen aber den Zaehler habe ich schon lange entfernt...ist mir also nicht wichtig ob jemanden meinen Kram ueberhaupt liest.

Werde auch mit worldconcerns.blogspot.com weiter machen da ist etwas mehr Iteresse. Mit dem Spanischen bin ich noch nicht so weit dass ich viel schreiben kann, Diana hat damit viel mehr gelernt als ich, man hat hier CNN in spanish und sie versteht sehr viel so lange ich nicht dauernd frage - was sagt der oder was sagt sie...?

save the planet....use a bag, instead of all that plastic...

A word on those "cloth" bags that are at every grocery store now.
Have you noticed that most every grocery store now has fancy cloth looking bags with their name on them? Most are 99 cents to $2.49, and invite shoppers to become "green" by buying and using one of these reusable bags.
The problem is...they're plastic!
Polypropylene to be exact...which is made from ethylene, a byproduct of oil, like any other plastic.
Also, while the stores say they'll last 2 years or so, they more than likely will tear long before then. Many are made cheaply, and won't stand up to sharp corners, heavy weights, and washing machines for long.
But they're recyclable, right?
Technically, yes. Yet, we've scoured the Internet looking for places in the US that will actually take Post Consumer Polypropylene and have not found one yet.
Not one.
There are places that will buy misprints and scraps, and post industrial polypropylene, but not the bags that are flying off the shelves at the grocery stores. Wegmans out of NY reportedly sold some 300 000 of them in their first week's launch alone.
So what happens in a year or so when all these bags fall apart?
They'll end up as garbage.
Essentially, they've taken the plastic bags you get for free, put some together and pressed them to look like cloth, and sold them to you. It's kind of like delaying when the garbage will hit the dump, and getting you to pay for it.
The real answer is to use cotton bags. Sturdy ones that are large and will stand up to regular use and washing.
We really don't mind if you use other brands...honestly. Just please, use cotton bags!
Some brands we've found that are great are EcoBags, Port and Company, Oprah's GrOceries bag (which is organic), and Enviro-Tote. They are all well made and will last you for your money.
With the Planet Bag, we tried to make the perfect answer to "if not paper or plastic, then what?"
-The Planet Bag is affordable, around $5 when purchased in the 3 pack or set of 6, and $5.95 when purchased singly.
-The Planet Bag is large. Many of the cotton bags out there are small and have short handles. The Planet Bag is 15" x 16" x 3", with 28" finished handles. Renovierung des Cobourg Haus...

Im Dezember 06 habe ich ein Haus am Lake Ontario in Koburg gekauft. Das wurde 1959 gebaut aber seither wurde da nich viel renoviert.

Sofort neues Dach, nun neue Kueche und so geht das weiter.

Das Haus ist am Strassenende....weiter geht es da nicht, dachte mir vielleicht sollte ich da ein Schild aufhaengen..( witz..)..

Leider war es die letzten paar Wochen sehr kalt ( minus 20C nachts)..und dann noch der Schnee.

Auf der Suedseite des lakes also 40 Km suedlich von meinem Haus in New York State war der Schnee fast 2 meter hoch.

In any case, when I bought another property six years ago I went to a branch of the Bank of America and a mortgage for about 60% of the property value was promptly approved.Payments from my Bank of America current account were arranged and for a time the scheduled monthly payment withdrawal for the mortgage amount worked without a hitch.No problem. Every month end an agreed amount of money was taken from my current account to cover interest and the appropriate principle component as laid out in the mortgage agreement.
For whatever reason which was never explained to me, involving mortgage number changes( an internal bank thing nothing to do with me) the troubles started.The automatic withdrawal did not take place. The bank referred the collection to their collection branch ( Buffalo N.Y.) The situation was resolved , I made a payment by check, from my current account and I was assured that the situation was taken care of.From that point on, time and time again for a pertiod of ten (10) months or more the bank screwed up the automatic withdrawal arrangements. To add insult to insury they also reported me to the credit monitors for failing to pay my mortgage. And when I was finally so fed up that I decided to look for another lender, because of the erroneous reporting by the Bank of America, I had great difficulty to find another reasonable lender.Eventually after I paid off the Bank of America mortgage with money I had to find at geat extra cost I received a an extremely carefully worded apology letter from the bank and I believe they also sent correction notes to the three credit monitoring agencies.
My point here, the Bank of America have caused me a great deal of trouble and expense. All the individual officers, male and female all over the USA which I talked to at one time or another during the 10 months showed a quick grasp and understanding for the situation but somehow it was never resolved until I finally paid this thing off.Bank of America, Higher Standards to me is at best a sick joke. I can not blame any of the individuals I talked to during these trying times . But there obviously is something wrong somewhere or with management of this gigantig bank for their total inability to deal with the problem they created.
As a point of interst, I have never in my lifetime ( now 69 years old) never written a check not covered what I am saying is no N S F ( not sufficient funds ) refused check, ever.I think I deserve better than the kind of standards or treatment received by theBank of America.the bank with Higher Standards.
....in my case, poorly treated by this giant bank...your standards of resolving problems are nothing to brag about...

umkrempeln, umzieherei, umbauen, renovieren...

I decided that this wordconcens.blogspot.com/ blog is too important an undertaking to klutz it up with personal stuff and, on the other hand ,I see no need to create more blogs on yahoo ,myspace etcetera and then totally lose track of what I've done...never mind alzheimer suspicions.

In any case, I will henceforth in german or english depending how I feel ;report on the progress of whatever realestate or personal stuff I'm working on.

The Florida house , renovations and repairs will have to wait til January or later. The pool area, lenai and garage door need to be fixed. New fence is needed. The place needs a few bucks to be updated. Hurricanes have taken their toll. The pool enclosure was totally demolished by falling tree bits and had to be removed. Hopefully I'll have an updated picture soon.

The Courtice villa; lots of interior painting and decorating, too cold and messy for outdoor work. Extensive yard clean up in spring . I may sell the place mid 07.

The villa was built in 1889, a time of outhouses, and gas lighting no running water. Just systerns and wells.

The old coachhouse had to be demolished a year ago. Several over 100 year old willows crashed into the creek one day. A stream "Black Creek" runs thru the rear of the property.

House by the Lake. I just bought another house, another old place in Cobourg. It needs a new roof right away, the inside has to be substantially renovated. This house was originally built in 1956. Very little has been done with it since. Counters and bathroom have the 50s look...not antique, just delapidated.

I will try to copy and shift some of the pics over from the worldblog if I can..that leaves me to keep the blog free from personal stuff...

The white siding house is in Cobourg, about 100 feet from Lake Ontario Beach, you can see the beach area in town from the backyard. I look forward to moving there, the nicest thing about living by the lake, no mosquitos..some spiders ok but no biterbugs...

Und wieder mal beim renovieren....bin im Begriff dieses Haus zu kaufen, es liegt am Lake Ontario in Cobourg, see archive pictures. Vom Backyard ( Garten ) kann man den Lake und Beach ( Strand) sehen.

Haus gekauft...ja noch eins...Cobourg, fast am Lake Ontario, teuer und braucht allerhand Hilfe...Dach, Garage, Fenster, Tueren, Kueche, Bad,...alles alt nichts gemacht seit 1959... alter Kram...aber der Bauplatz selbst is es schon wert...hoffe ich wenigstens.

My mother was born in 1906, that's 100 years ago...
Meine Mutter war am 16. November 1906 geboren, in Pirmasens.

She was part of a family with 11 children and only four made it to age 50.
Her parents, stepmother and several siblings perished from the influenza 1918-1920.
Sie war die 9. von 11 Kinder, nur 4 davon wurden eventuell ueber 50 Jahre alt.
Ihre Eltern sowie die Stiefmutter und einige Geschwister starben von der Grippe 1918-20.

A younger brother ended up in Russia victim of the 2nd world war.
Ein Bruder, Fritz ist in Russland gefallen im 2. Weltkrieg.

By 1906 the world population was 1.4 Billion that is 1 billion 400 million inhabitants on the earth at that time.

In spite of ww1, ww2, other wars since, the influenza, aids, famine, hunger and innumerable conflicts all over the world since 1906, the atomic bombs over Japan, carpetbombing over Germany, Stalins massacre of his people, Cambodia, Somalia, Yugoslavia and all the rest of the horrible destruction humanity has brought upon itself, ......It is estimated that today the world population is at about 6.4 billion...



In other words it has quadrupled in less than 4 generations.
Countries such as France, Russia, Germany, the UK, and a number of other European countries have reported as much as 20 % population decline in the last 25 years.

Ja das lumpige Geld.....

Irgendwann, irgendwo wollte ich da mal kurz ueber Geld, Anliegen, Investments schreiben. Warum nicht hier. Hoffe nun dass jemand etwas interessantes dazu beitragen koennte. Bitte keinen Unsinn.

Ich ging da vor ein paar Jahren zu einer Morgan Stanley Investment Branche in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Ich hatte ein paar extra Dollars, Hatte gerade ein Nettes Condo gekauft ( renovierter triplex- ein Haus mit 3 Wohnungen, verkauft) und wollte nun ein paar Dollar anlegen.

$50,000 hatte ich zur Verfuegung.
Aus den 50,000 wurden innerhalb ein paar Monate etwa $95,000 und komischerweise kommt man sich da bei der Sache ziemlich schlau vor.

Ploetzlich......ueber Nacht ging alles herunter. Worldcom gefallen von $50 per share zu unter 30 cents. Alles Andere Pfizer,GE,Warner Lampert, und etliche dotcoms auch krass gefallen.
Bis ich dann Genug von davon hatte und den Uebrigbleibsel fuer knapp unter 14,000 Dollars abschob. Das war es mit meinem Finazerlebnis in den USA.

In Kanada ging es mir nicht viel besser. Richardson Greenschield, seither von RBC Bank uebernommen kostete mich mit meinem RRSP Pensionsplan und Privatshares etwa $60,000 Kanadische lumpendollars....( ein Kanackendollar war damals 65 us cents wert) die miserablen Shares von Bombardier, Northern Telecom. Magellen Aircraft,und ein paar Andere waren fast ploetzlich heruntergeplumst.

Entscheidung:-/ vergesse die Boerse geh mit Realestate....

das hat zwar mal wieder nichts mit Pirmasens zu tun aber nun bin ich mal ein Pirmasenser draussen und vielleicht hat da jemand ein paar interessante Kommentare, kein Grund zum weinen denn all das was ich dabei verloren habe wurde mittlerweile wieder aufgeholt. Ich brauche also keine Bohnen aus der Blechbuechse zu essen oder wie man hier sagt Kraft Dinners (nudeln aus der schachtel mit gelbkaesepuder...juck...)

Immer wieder das telefon belegt wenn am internet. Deshalb nun auch sympatico ( gehoert der Bell Telephone Gesellschaft) das geht nun schnell und die Linie bleibt frei.

Nun hat das mal wieder nichts mit Pirmasens zu tun ich dachte nur dass ich mal wieder kurz hier erscheinen sollte.

Die Uhr wird nun eine Stunde zurueck-gekurbelt, jeder vermoddelt sich,halloween also,
viel Sturm im Nordosten um New York und Bosten herum ging das Licht aus, Verkehsampeln und Gebaude zerstoert, komischerweise nicht viel los mit den alljaehrlichen Hurricanes also Florida blieb dieses Jahr verschont.
